For Easter weekend, we took our new trailer to Galveston Island State Park.

While waiting for our camp site to empty, we played on the beach.
Jon rode around while we got settled. Watch out for flying shells!

Just a few minutes of chillin' with Daddy, before heading back out to play.
Jon rode that bike all over the beach!Sometimes, he'd forget to take the helmet off before running out into the water! He didn't seem to mind!Mommy got the helmet off for him. Watching Jon play. After all that playing, Jon falls asleep with Daddy. It started getting windy, so we headed back to camp. Jon was still asleep, so we pulled out something for him to lay down on. He had to be woken up for dinner.
He didn't really wake up, though! Yup. He's eating while mostly asleep! After dinner, we got Jon to wake up with an evening stroll. When we got back, it was dark enough to try out the lights. Jon thought they were pretty cool! Daddy & Jon had a blast out there!

Writing in the sand.
It's hard to see, but Jon wrote "Jonster". He was so proud!

Daddy found a barnacle that would stick it's mouth out once in a while. After looking at it for a little bit, it went back into the water.

We found a cool looking lady bug. Jon thought it was fun to have it crawl on his hand. Here's our camp during daylight.

Jon managed to really get the hammock swinging!
We went for a walk in another part of the state park. This was going up to an observation tower.

I followed this bee to get just the right shot!
I came upon this sweet scene after taking pictures of the flowers. The splash in the background is a bird diving for a fish. The two of them were talking about the bird at that same moment!
Easter morning arrived, and it was just too cold and windy to hunt for eggs at the beach. Jon didn't mind. He looked all around the camp site for eggs!

Next month, we will be heading to a state park in Austin!

We had fun at the stock show.
For some reason, we just couldn't seem to find horses. We did spot this competition, though. This ride wasn't that thrilling, but I love this picture.
The first time on this one, Jon just enjoyed the ride.
They had mini-bumper cars. They were the perfect size for Jon.

The next time he went on this ride, Jon spent the entire time happily trying to figure out how it works!

We are getting ready to take our new trailer out for it's maiden voyage!

Charlie has been putting on those final touches on the "Zebra Trailer."

Jon checks out the AC window.

The galley fits a small fridge.
Yes, the trailer has a tail! Jon spent much of Sunday playing inside the trailer. It'll fit a queen size air mattress on the floor, and a twin on the loft.

Not exactly on the subject of the trailer, but here's Jon enjoying his new bike!

There are the video clips I promised you, Grandma Glee!

Jon & I caucused last night. It was an experience I will always remember. Hopefully, so will Jon.

By now, everyone knows about the "Texas Two Step." About 25% of the Texas delegates comes from the caucus. As close as the race is, I felt that it was important to make sure that I make every vote count.

Jon & I got to the voting location at 7pm. (I had already voted earlier.) I came somewhat prepared to keep Jon busy, bringing his Leapster & some cars. We were instructed to wait in the cafeteria until all voting was done. It was expected to be busy, but not this busy. That cafeteria was packed! The volunteers were rattled, because they never thought that many would show up! I can only imagine what it must have been like at other location around town, since our area isn't as populated as it farther in town.

So here we were, crammed in there, waiting for the last person to vote. Unfortunately, the line outside went around the building! It wasn't until after 9pm that the last person voted.

I have to admit, there were times during this that I wanted to go home, and get Jon to bed. He was being so good, but was getting bored. Jon wouldn't let me go anywhere. He wanted to "help pick a president!" I had tried to explain that we were picking who would run for president, but that was too complicated. (I have figured out that it's too complicated for many adults!)

When the last voter had left, we were instructed to gather as a precinct to pick a chair and a secretary. 2 ladies volunteered to chair our precinct, so we had to vote on it. There were so many other precincts that we all crammed into an alcove in order to hear. After we picked from 2 ladies we had never met before, we left the alcove to line up. I managed to get the 2 of us towards the front of the mass of bodies. After our new chair got the official packet from the judge, we were able to start writing. We had to write our name, address, phone #, email address, our candidate choice, then answer a few little questions. (35 & under?, disabled?, M or F, Latin?)

I had promised Jon that I would let him help me out. So, when I was ready to write Obama's name, I called Jon over. I told Jon to hold the pen, and I held Jon's hand. That way, Jon thought that he really was helping to pick a president! He was so excited about all this, that he talked about it all the way home! (That was all of 2 1/2 blocks!) That was one tired boy when we got home after 10pm! That didn't stop him from eating, though!

All in all, I'm glad we did it. Will I caucus again? If I'm still in Houston next time there's a caucus, I'll do a heck of a lot more than scream! Other than that, no I won't. Unless the situation is as drastic as this one. And, considering that Obama is currently leading in the caucus, I'd say that my vote was well worth it!

Let's all keep hoping for the best! We love you all!

Yesterday morning, we decided to head to the Houston Rodeo Parade. We got there in time to watch part of the staging of the trail riders before it started. We found that this was our favorite part, because it was up close & personal. Everyone said "hi" or "goodmorning", and they loved having Jon there waving at them!
Where we were standing was completely surrounded by trail riders.
This finely dressed couple was happy to smile for me.
We made it the parade before it started, and ended up across from the anouncer's booth. It was fun being able to hear what each group was called, and where they were from. Each trail rider group took the traditional route to get here, and many had been riding for days.
Before the parade started, there was a group that hands out flags. They are there every year to do this.

Charlie & Jon were behind this control box for the lights. Jon ended up sitting on it.

I just love how this picture came out!
It's hard to tell in the picture, but they are doing some very fancy footwork!
Jon got tuckered out, but he's still waving that flag! We left shortly after this. Jon was just too tired to watch the last part. We had a great time at the parade! In fact, we even got to see some of the trailriders that were still lined up for their turn to start. They were all super nice, and one even joked about wanting to switch places with Jon.
