Yesterday morning, we decided to head to the Houston Rodeo Parade. We got there in time to watch part of the staging of the trail riders before it started. We found that this was our favorite part, because it was up close & personal. Everyone said "hi" or "goodmorning", and they loved having Jon there waving at them!
Where we were standing was completely surrounded by trail riders.
This finely dressed couple was happy to smile for me.
We made it the parade before it started, and ended up across from the anouncer's booth. It was fun being able to hear what each group was called, and where they were from. Each trail rider group took the traditional route to get here, and many had been riding for days.
Before the parade started, there was a group that hands out flags. They are there every year to do this.

Charlie & Jon were behind this control box for the lights. Jon ended up sitting on it.

I just love how this picture came out!
It's hard to tell in the picture, but they are doing some very fancy footwork!
Jon got tuckered out, but he's still waving that flag! We left shortly after this. Jon was just too tired to watch the last part.
We had a great time at the parade! In fact, we even got to see some of the trailriders that were still lined up for their turn to start. They were all super nice, and one even joked about wanting to switch places with Jon.
